German Biathlon Icon Sets Incredible Record!
Former biathlete Laura Dahlmeier has set a record for climbing Ama Dablam, a peak that stands at 6812 meters in the Himalayas.
Dahlmeier, still in top form five years after retiring from biathlon, reached the summit faster than any other woman, completing the ascent from base camp to the peak in just 12 hours and 1 minute.
In a post on Instagram following her climb, Dahlmeier expressed, “It was an incredible day in every respect; I could fully immerse myself in the trail and the beauty of the landscape. But it wasn’t about the record for me; it was about what I love most — climbing, observing, and feeling alive with every step.”
She completed the challenging ascent to the summit in 8 hours and 24 minutes. The men's world record is held by Frenchman Matheo Jacquemod, who completed the round trip to the summit and back in an astounding 6 hours and 23 minutes.
Dahlmeier, a two-time Olympic champion and seven-time world champion, retired from biathlon in 2019 at just 25 years old and has since been active in various sports, including mountain running.
