Frustrated After Being Beaten by Unknown Norwegian: – I Hate Norway

Svenskene er ikke fornøyde etter at nok en norsk skiskytter fant veien til toppen av pallen.

Rekruttløperen Martin Uldal took a surprise victory in the sprint at Le Grand Bornand. The 23-year-old from Birkenes had only started four individual World Cup races before topping the podium in France.

This has drawn reactions from Swedish competitors.

– I hate Norway, Sebastian Samuelsson jokingly told SVT.

– It’s fun for him. But no, I’m not very satisfied with my Norwegian friends, he continued.

Samuelsson himself delivered a solid race but missed once on the shooting range, which turned out to be decisive. The 27-year-old finished in third place behind two Norwegians on the results list.

– I'm very happy with my race. I think I keep it together very well on the track, Samuelsson said about his performance.

Worse was the result for fellow Swede Martin Ponsilouma. He struggled significantly during the shooting stand in the season opener, and Thursday was no exception. Ponsilouma missed four shots in total — two standing and two lying down — finishing in 58th place.

– I don’t know what to say. It’s worse than a nightmare. I can’t explain it. It’s incomprehensible to me that he would fail like that. He has been so confident throughout the autumn, Sweden's shooting coach Jean-Marc Chabloz told SVT.
