Elvira Öberg typically performs well in Le Grand Bornand. Three years ago, she made a significant impact by achieving three podium finishes in just three days at the venue. However, today she encountered challenges in the shooting range.

"I found myself thinking 'no, no'" said Öberg to SVT Sport.

Before the race, she mentioned her intention to take it easier at the start. But Öberg opened strongly for the 7.5 km sprint, setting herself up perfectly for the first prone shooting stage. Unfortunately, she missed two shots.

"I can only think, 'no, no now I must make sure to perform well in standing so it doesn’t turn out like in Hochfilzen'" Öberg remarked.

She continued to ski impressively, but when she missed two more shots at the standing stage, her chances evaporated. Like in the recent Hochfilzen sprint, she ended up with four misses in total.

“I genuinely had all the conditions to perform well today, and it turned out poorly yet again.

I definitely had higher expectations,” said Mona Brorsson, an expert for SVT Sport regarding Öberg's performance.

Öberg was not the only Swedish athlete struggling; none of her teammates, including Johanna Skottheim, Sara Andersson, Ella Halvarsson, or Anna Magnusson, could shoot cleanly either. Magnusson was the best performer among them with a tenth-place finish.

Home favorite Justine Braisaz-Bouchet clinched the victory, followed by Germany's Franziska Preuss and Slovenia's Anamarija Lampic.
