Elvira Öberg maintained her status as the favorite and won the biathlon sprint in Idre, even after a fall. The reigning champion initially faced a setback when she fell in the first lap, but quickly regained her footing and continued with determination.

Expected to triumph, Öberg met the expectations convincingly, showing strong form as she raced through the course. Although she missed two shots in the second round, her speed on the tracks was unmatched, ultimately leading to her clear victory over competitor Anna-Karin Heijdenberg by 50 seconds. A-lag debutant Ella Halvarsson secured a commendable third place, despite missing three shots during the competition.

Overall, Öberg's solid performance in the prone position, where she hit all five targets, provided her with an early lead, which she maintained with an exceptional final lap after the competition's rivals each incurred their own missed shots.
