With the pursuit event on Sunday, the second men's race of the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide is underway. Following a disappointing sprint race, where the medal contenders were far out of reach, the German team now aims to regain some pride.

At the championships in Lenzerheide, the men's pursuit race is on the program. The battle for medals had already slipped away for the German team after a disastrous sprint – as criticized by Sports Director Felix Bitterling, who bluntly stated, "There’s nothing to sugarcoat – that was nothing." He lamented the performance of the quartet, which, in contrast to the women, is trailing far behind the world's elite.

The live coverage details how to watch the race: TV broadcasts will be on ZDF and Eurosport, with livestreams available via ZDF, Joyn, and DAZN. In the sprint, Philipp Nawrath finished 18th and was the best performing German biathlete, while Justus Strelow, Danilo Riethmüller, and Philipp Horn ended up in 30th, 40th, and 44th place respectively. Bitterling emphasized that shooting series with two to three misses are simply not good enough in these conditions and indicated that there will be further individual discussions over the performance.

Although the medal positions seem unattainable in the pursuit, the German athletes are not giving up the chase. "First, it’s about making amends and proving to themselves that they can do better, which is important to build a fighting spirit for the second week of the championships," Bitterling said. He added that the coming week would see a reset of the medal order.
