The Austrian women’s relay team, competing at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide, achieved an outstanding fourth-place finish despite missing out on a medal by only 5.6 seconds. The team lineup – Lea Rothschopf, Lisa Hauser, Tamara Steiner, and Anna Andexer – delivered strong performances over four 6-kilometer legs, with each member contributing crucial shooting accuracy and ski speed.

Lisa Hauser expressed her immense pride in the team’s effort, noting that even though they were not considered medal contenders before the race, their excellent shooting and running performances turned the unexpected result into a moment of joy. Start-runner Lea Rothschopf, although disappointed by an early shooting error, was consoled by the team’s overall performance. Anna Andexer, who had a medal in sight during the final leg, lamented missing out by only a few seconds, yet remained proud that the team managed to close the gap to a medal-winning time.

This result evened the Austrian team’s best performance in a women’s relay at the World Championships, marking a significant achievement in the nation’s biathlon history.
