TV Revelation After the Race Highlights German Collapse

The German duo, Selina Grotian and Justus Strelow, appeared set for a podium finish at the World Cup in Pokljuka but ultimately fell to sixth place after a poor performance on the final lap. As the event unfolded, there were expectations after previous strong showings from the German biathlon team in the singles and mixed relay events earlier in the season. However, Strelow's late drop from a strong second place was attributed to both physical fatigue and equipment discrepancies.
After the race, Strelow expressed his frustrations, highlighting the strenuous race that left him depleted on the last lap. He stated, “I had to exert a lot of energy early on, and there wasn't much left in the tank at the end.”
The DSV sports director later disclosed that material troubles contributed to the drop in performance, indicating that the team didn't have the best equipment for this race. This was a stark reminder for the team, especially in the absence of Franziska Preuß, the current overall World Cup leader, who received a break to prepare for upcoming races.
As the DSV team looks ahead, they will be competing again at the historic Holmenkollen, where they hope to reclaim their standing in subsequent events. The pressure is on as Preuß will be battling for the lead against French competitor Lou Jeanmonnot, and with only a small point differential, every race counts moving forward.
