Johannes Thingnes Bö secured the victory in the first individual men’s event at the title fights in Lenzerheide with a win in the 10 km sprint. This triumph gave him his 21st World Championship gold medal, propelling him past his compatriot Ole Einar Björndalen in the historical record books. Bö, who announced his retirement at the end of last winter, not only set a new championship record but also earned his 89th career win – a number that puts him only six victories behind Björndalen’s record.

Looking forward, the 31‐year‐old has a theoretical chance to overtake the overall win record if he continues to perform strongly in the remaining World Cup events and throughout the rest of the championship season. His excellent form has already positioned him as the title defender in the upcoming 12.5 km pursuit, scheduled for Sunday at 15:05.

In a competitive field, 22‐year‐old Campbell Wright, who was flawless at the shooting range, finished 27.7 seconds behind Bö, while Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet, 9.3 seconds further back, claimed the bronze medal. Austria’s best was routine Simon Eder, who ended up in 26th place following a late missed shot that cost him a top‐ten finish. Other Norwegian team members were evenly distributed throughout the top ten, although overall world cup leader and title defender Sturla Holm Laegreid only managed to finish ninth.
