Strong DSV Women's Team

The DSV women impressed at the conclusion of the World Cup in Kontiolahti during the mass start event, with Franziska Preuß finishing on the podium. Preuß secured third place, marking the second German individual podium of the winter.

Vanessa Voigt finished fourth, and the 19-year-old Julia Tannheimer rounded out the strong showing in fifth place in the 12.5 km race.

Just a day prior, Preuß had expressed frustration after narrowly missing the podium with a fourth place in the sprint, finishing just 0.1 seconds behind.

Podium Despite Mistakes

Preuß crossed the finish line 19.1 seconds behind Swedish winner Elvira Öberg, having made two shooting errors. This marks her first podium finish in over eleven months. Voigt followed closely behind, just 0.8 seconds later, after a flawless shooting performance. "She really stepped it up," commented ARD commentator Wilfrid Hark about Voigt.

Tannheimer, who already surprised with a sixth place finish in the sprint, finished just one second behind her teammate. Öberg claimed victory despite two shooting mistakes, finishing ahead of French competitor Julia Simon (2/+16.2 seconds).

Looking Ahead to Hochfilzen

Following the conclusion of the events in Kontiolahti, the action moves to Hochfilzen, Austria, starting Friday. This location will host sprint races, the first pursuit of the winter, and relay events until Sunday. A World Cup event is also planned for Le Grand Bornand before the new year, with upcoming German events in Oberhof (January 9-12) and Ruhpolding (January 15-19).
