Franziska Preuß clinched victory in the 7.5 km sprint at Hochfilzen, breaking a drought of 2,154 days since her last win. The German triumphed under excellent weather conditions, with Anna Andexer being the best Austrian, finishing 25th in her World Cup debut. Following her were Anna Gandler in 27th and former world champion Lisa Hauser in 34th.

In the men's race, Johannes Thingnes Bö secured his first win of the season despite a penalty round.

Andexer expressed her disbelief, stating, "I could hardly believe I did this. I was so nervous. This is amazing!" The upcoming pursuit event positions Austria's trio closely, with Andexer starting 1:07.6 behind.

In the men's sprint, Austrian Simon Eder placed 35th, missing a chance at World Cup points, while the Norwegian Sturla Holm Lægreid and Frenchman Fabien Claude completed the top three.

The weekend in Hochfilzen wraps up with women's and men's relay races on Sunday.
