Biathlon: Samuelsson ends the season with victory – shushed the audience

Sebastian Samuelsson capped off his season in a spectacular fashion by winning the mass start event in Holmenkollen, displaying his shooting skills alongside a sense of humor.

The 27-year-old biathlete celebrated his victory by playfully shushing the Norwegian crowd, saying, "It's a dream I've had to jest with the audience in Holmenkollen; I did it with love."

This win marks Samuelsson's second of the season, adding to his individual victory in the pursuit event in Nove Mesto. He was notably dominant in the 15-kilometer mass start, only missing one shot during the third round of shooting, achieving otherwise perfect shooting.

On the home stretch, Samuelsson, with a wide smile, chose to shush the Norwegian fans as he crossed the finish line. He reflected, "I will always remember winning Johannes and Tarjei's last race, and I will take that with me."

The victory was a significant moment in the season's last competition, especially as it was overshadowed by the departure of legendary biathlon brothers, Johannes and Tarjei Bö. Johannes, a prolific athlete decorated with five Olympic golds and 23 World Championship titles, could only manage a seventh-place finish, clocking 41 seconds behind Samuelsson. Tarjei concluded the race in 23rd place.
