Biathlon: Riethmüller just misses podium finish
Danilo Riethmüller narrowly missed out on a podium finish after a brilliant performance at the World Cup in Kontiolahti. The 25-year-old from Oberhof finished in fourth place in the mass start after a shooting error left him just 6.1 seconds behind the podium.
In a highly competitive race, Riethmüller achieved his career-best finish, surpassing his previous top ten placements. Eric Perrot from France took first place with a time of 37:12.9 seconds.
"Of course, it would have been even nicer to reach the podium. But I could feel from the start that I was missing a bit of punch. Overall, though, I am really satisfied," Riethmüller stated in an interview after the race.
Meanwhile, Justus Strelow finished eleventh, making him the second-best German athlete in the race. The next races will continue in Hochfilzen, Austria, followed by another World Cup at Le Grand Bornand before the holiday season.
The German competitions will resume in early January with events in Oberhof and Ruhpolding.
