Biathlon Champion Linn Persson Embraces New Name After Marriage

Fans of Linn Persson will need to get accustomed to a new name as the Olympic champion prepares to compete under her married name, Linn Gestblom, in the upcoming World Cup season.

Recently, Linn celebrated a momentous occasion, marking her 30th birthday just two days before exchanging vows with her long-time fiancé, Christian Gestblom. The wedding took place in a beautiful ceremony near Torsby, attended by fellow biathlon stars including Hanna and Elvira Öberg, Stina Nilsson, Martin Ponsiluoma, Jesper Nelin, and Mona Brorsson.

Sharing her joy, Linn described her wedding as an experience unlike any biathlon race, speaking to NWT about the excitement of the day. For her fans, this new chapter not only brings a personal milestone but also means they will now be cheering for Linn Gestblom as she takes to the trails in future competitions.

Linn's career has seen incredible highs, including winning a gold medal with the Swedish relay team at the Winter Olympics in 2022. Although injuries affected her performance during the past season, she still secured a silver medal at the World Championships in Nove Mesto and claimed the title of vice-world champion in Oberhof in 2023.

In an interesting twist, it was Linn who proposed to Christian four years ago, a moment she humorously shared on Instagram in February 2020, revealing that he said "yes!"
