Dahlmeier Plays Football with Monks
Laura Dahlmeier shares an experience away from the ski trails: During her trip to Nepal and India, she played football with monks.
Laura Dahlmeier, a former biathlete who is now actively engaging in mountain running, enjoys spending her vacations with unique experiences. Recently, she traveled to Nepal and India, sharing her adventures on Instagram. Among her activities, she played football with Buddhist monks.
In the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, she learned more about Buddhism. Dahlmeier posted images of her kicking a ball with the monks on a hard court. Her talent with a ball was noted by biathlon reporter Christian Dexne in the podcast "Extrarunde," who recounted what Magdalena Neuner said about Dahlmeier: "Laura Dahlmeier came to us for training. Then we played football in the hall—she was five or eight years younger than everyone else—and she tackled everyone. Totally disrespectful, she was all about attack."

Dahlmeier demonstrated her skills during the match with the monks, scoring a goal and celebrating jubilantly. She mentioned on Instagram: "Have you ever played football with Buddhist monks? Neither have I. But once again, it shows the power of sports. It brings people together—regardless of their age, religion, skin color, or education."
Dahlmeier's vacation included an extreme mountain climbing adventure as well, as she reached the summit of the nearly 7000-meter-high Ama Dablam in a record time of 8 hours and 24 minutes, the fastest time ever for a woman.
In her biathlon career, Dahlmeier won seven gold and silver medals and five bronze medals at World Championships. She also clinched the overall World Cup title in 2016/17 and triumphed in 20 World Cup races.
