Biathlon: Laegreid and the Perfect Win

Sturla Holm Laegreid had a stellar performance at the Biathlon World Cup in Antholz, winning the men’s pursuit without any shooting errors. This victory marks his second World Cup win of the season and solidifies his position in the yellow jersey, indicating overall dominance in the season.

On January 26, 2025, Laegreid showcased an impeccable race finishing ahead of his Norwegian teammate Tarjei Bö, who made one mistake and finished 18.9 seconds behind. Italian local hero Tommaso Giacomel completed the podium with two errors and finished 24.0 seconds back.

The race served as a critical warm-up for the approaching World Championships in Lenzerheide, scheduled for February 12. Unfortunately, the German team struggled for form, with their best competitor, Philipp Horn, finishing 11th and indicate the need for improvement before the championships.

In the pursuit, Laegreid and Bö quickly established a lead, but only Laegreid maintained his composure at the shooting range, utilizing his skills to race towards victory.
