Jesper Nelin revealed drama ahead of the start of the men's relay over 4x7.5 kilometers. He missed the time for the weapon control, saying, "You feel like a clown," according to SVT Sport. The Swedish world champion team was intact as they lined up for the relay in Kontiolax, finishing third.
Nelin, who was the second leg runner, explained that the situation became frantic before the weapon control. "Johannes (Lukas, the head coach) came running and screaming that there were four minutes left to weapon control. It was panic," he said to SVT Sports.
He needed to use three extra shots during his leg. "I have a snow cover at the front of my rifle; I have no spring on it, so it should drop down by itself. But when it gets a bit wet, it stays stuck. I had to try to shake it down."
When asked if this made it feel like a premiere, he replied, "Almost, you might think so when you're about to miss the sighting. The margins were on my side today."
The team consisted of, besides Nelin, Viktor Brandt, Martin Ponsiluoma, and Sebastian Samuelsson.
