In the Biathlon World Cup opener in Kontiolahti, competing in the Single-Mixed Relay, Simon Eder and Lisa Hauser narrowly missed a podium finish, placing fourth with just one missed shot.
The duo's potential podium placement slipped away in the final moments when Eder struggled to keep pace with competitors from France and Germany. The race was won by Ella Halvarsson and Sebastian Samuelsson from Sweden. The Austrian mixed team, composed of Dunja Zdouc, Lea Rothschopf, Felix Leitner, and David Komatz, faced a tough fight and finished in eleventh place.
Hauser commented on their performance, noting, "This was a really cool start to the season, and we can start well with this fourth place," while Eder added, "The only disappointment is that we couldn't secure a podium, but this was one of our best performances in the Single-Mixed Relay, especially on the shooting range."
The next events for the men’s and women’s relays are set to follow on Sunday.
