Biathlon Coach Ties the Knot at Scenic Chiemsee

Johannes Lukas, the head coach of Sweden's biathlon team, celebrated a dream wedding against the breathtaking backdrop of Chiemsee.

On a recent visit to his Bavarian homeland, Lukas, who hails from Munich and has connections to Traunstein, married his partner Maria. The couple exchanged vows last week on Herreninsel, one of the islands in Chiemsee, as reported by Nordic Mag. Following the ceremony, friends and family joined in the festivities in the nearby town of Prien, where traditional attire was worn, adding to the joyful celebration.

A Brief Look at Lukas' Career

Taking on the role of head coach in May 2019, Lukas succeeded Wolfgang Pichler and has since led the team to numerous achievements, including a victory in the men’s relay at the World Championships in Nove Mesto. Earlier this year, his accomplishments were recognized when he was named Coach of the Year in Sweden during a ceremony in Stockholm.

It's been a summer filled with love within the biathlon community, with several other couples also celebrating their marriages. Notably, biathlon star Tarjei Bö wed his partner Gita Simonsen in early July, while Norwegian athlete Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold also tied the knot.

As the wedding bells ring, biathletes are now gearing up for the upcoming season, set to commence with the World Cup in Kontiolahti, Finland, on November 30th.
