Hanna Öberg does not accept the reasoning behind the changes in the World Cup that prevent the best biathletes from starting early. She believes that this will likely result in less viewership since spectators will tune in later rather than at the beginning of the races.

In September, the board of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) decided to alter the starting order in individual start races. From now on, the top 15 ranked athletes (based on the overall World Cup standings) will have starting numbers between 46 and 74.

Öberg shared her concerns during an interview, stating, "I think it will lead to people not watching from the start."

Previously, top athletes were allowed to choose their start group in sprints and normal distances, often starting early. Therefore, much of the excitement was generated while many competitors had yet to start their races.

The majority of athletes voted against the change, as noted by Öberg, who expressed sadness that the IBU has disregarded the athletes' opinions. Despite the criticism, IBU president Olle Dahlin remains confident in the decision, indicating it followed a long process and would ultimately enhance the competition.
